I am very sad to pass on the news that Van Wastell passed away today. The details have not been reported. Our hearts go out to the Wastell and DLXSF families.

van_wastell.jpg

We just received some new product from Fallen. We received T-shirts, pants, long sleeve shirts, hats, backpacks, and socks. The Back to School Sale is still taking place but I don’t know for how much longer. So come up to the shop before the sales are gone.

temp-image_1_2.png

Long time friend and fellow shredder Robb Estberg is moving out of the country tomorrow evening. Be sure to hit him up show your love and let him know he will be missed. Robb was one of the original shredders of Velocity and will always remain a part of this team no matter how far away he is from us.

I know I can speak for myself and everyone on the team that were gonna miss that mark, and hopefully some of us will go visit him and not bluff. Hope the sesh is epic in Europe and be sure to keep us up-to-date on that footage Robb.

Keeping this shit short cause straight up I will miss that kid and just want it short and sweet, no homo homie, don’t forget about us either.

Sorry I can’t be there to see you off dawg, glad I got to skate Philly and NYC one last time with you before you left.

Much Love,
GTF (lol)

That’s right people we are having a big video premier of the latest film from Black Box Distribution: “Fallen: Ride the Sky.” Velocity as well as a Skatology, 3 Rideshop, Rascals, Wavedancer and Revival are hosting the event at the Senator Theater on August 31st at 6:00 PM. Entry into the event is only $6 dollars, which is less than what you would pay to see a feature film and lets face it you care more about skateboarding than some romantic comedy with your girlfriend or something.

For those of you that haven’t seen the trailer to the film feel free to creep onto the Fallen website and peep the epicness to get you excited for the premier, but I doubt any of you haven’t seen the trailer…

Now for those of you rejoining us because I am sure you went and re-watched the trailer anyway, be sure when you go to the event to let us know your here from Velocity, the proceeds are going to be split amongst the shops and while we know who most of you are we would like to at least try and get a head count. Also know that the more of you that come to the premier the more copies of the video we will get in the shop so best bring your peeps so you can get a copy for yourself when it’s released onto DVD.

Bare Essentials, the Riders: Jamie Thomas, Chris Cole, Billy Marks, Josh Harmony, Tommy Sandoval, Tony Cervantes, James Hardy, Matt Bennett, Brian Hansen, and Gilbert Crockett.

Should be interesting to find out who really gets last part, since word is that Tommy is gunning for it, I don’t think he has the heart to steal it from Cole, but he does do mad hammers, anyone interested in taking bets I am down haha.

See you all on the 31st best come out and rep for Velo.

Back to School SALE!!@!!! rawr, there is a board up at the shop that lists all the sale information but this flier lets you know it’s going on if you haven’t been to the shop? Yeah basically. Also yuck you stay offline so you had no input on this blaze hand drawn flier hahaha.

I realize this has been up for like over a week but I personally wasn’t going to post it because I wanted the Derek Flier to get all the love it needed especially since we put the event together so late. For those of you that haven’t seen it enjoy, if your having any trouble viewing let us know we will be getting a youtube version up, or you can go to the vimeo page and if register and account so you can download the itunes version ;) .

Peep the flier for information, this is a memorial event so no entree fee is required. We will be grilling and providing some drinks but its probably best to bring some drinks cause its probably going to be hot, bring whoever is down with skateboarding and especially if you were down with Derek.

looking forward to Dew Tour or your experiences afterward, let me know. A
guest column is about 250-300 words long and is printed with your name, age,

As we look around the shop and see the temperature start to rise, boards flying off the wall and everyone just going out to rip(sorry green) we realized its sale time once again. It looks a little suspect to me but I did find this on the transworld site. It also makes sense with Arto leaving Etnies for Gravis and Burton buying Alien. But anyway the message below is supposed to be from Geoff Rowley…..Don’t know about the “x”

As from today, Arto Saari is no longer riding for Flip Skateboards, and has found a new home at Alien Workshop.

Everyone at Flip wishes Arto the best for his future with the Burton family, and are in total support of this move for him.

“Arto is like a brother to me. After years of being on the same team with the same goals it was time for him to move on. We remain the best of friends and will continue to skate together probably harder and probably more so than ever!!! I wish him all the best and as a brother, I shall always have his back”

I admit I was skeptical that this shit would ever show up, but finally on March 18th, 2008 the shipment arrived. This was the first shipment of Matix that the shop has ever received, and since it was a little late we did opt to not get very many sweatshirts and with exception to one style we barely got any.

Marc Johnson Signature Series: First lets talk, MJ, aside form some speculation in the shop most of the product with his name on it is fire. We got some corduroy pants, sweaters, short-sleeve no collar polos, and some MJ signature jeans.

Rick McCrank Signature Jeans: Without question one of the better looking jeans in the mix, comes custom with the shoelace belt with g-string protection haha.

Daewon Song Signature Jeans: The only black denim in the bunch, it’s a bit shiny but I haven’t personally tried them on so I am not sure how they feel.

T-shirts: Huge array of t-shirts from the all-over fire to the standard shit, we also have the MJ signature shirts as mentioned above. The shirts range in price because of the styles but overall I would say its a good selection of shirts and should be up to anyones tastes thats looking to rep some Matix.

Jeans: Overall the jeans look really fire, I have tired on a couple of pairs and there all relatively comfortable, I can’t say much about if they bleed while you skate yet since I just got myself a few pairs today, I do know that the slim-fit jeans are anything but, this is without question not a hesh company haha.

Hats: Couple of fitted hats and some flexfit as well, the styles are decent, if your looking for a hat we have a couple to choose from but it’s not a very large selection.

That about covers everything, we got a ton of it in today so for those of you that have been waiting as many years as I have for this shit to finally come to Velocity then go fiend and pick some up :)

After years upon years of struggle the first ever shoe has finally arrived at Velocity, can’t say I was all that optimistic considering the lack of contact we have had and the gloomy forecast of the ship dates, but the shit finally happened. We got in some Carroll’s and while it’s only one shoe it is a representation of the things to come, expect a lot more Lakai, DVS, and Matix to be arriving shortly.

Fucking stoked.

The newest episode of the Globe series has been dropped. This one stars Matt Mumford and the almighty Jake Duncombe. View it here.

Burton has bought Alien Workshop and Habitat, I guess we’ll have to wait and see what this means and if there will be any changes. Yellow brand has called it quits.Plan B has made Scott Decenzo its first official am. Satori Movement just got went to Florida and have posted a video of the tour. Furby is the newest Hubba am. John Cardiel’s Epicly Later’d episodes are starting to pop up there will be 16 parts total so get your popcorn ready. Greg Lutzka is now on Ricta. PJ Ladd is no longer on Es and is finally on DC.

The sale is still going on so come on down and spend some cheese.

The  tribute that was shown at his memorial jam is finally online. Its not the easiest thing to watch I hope everyone does, and know you all will. Never forget Derek Gertz

Starting today all sweatshirts are 40% off and all shoes are 30% off. This is an on going sale but things will move quickly. In other words get it while the gettin’s good and don’t front on it.

The video from the North Carolina trip is done. Everyone had a great time, but we did get caught putting itching powder in Frissbee’s panties. A huge thank you goes out to Sean and Ralphie at Globe and Dwindle for their support, John Morgan at Eastern Skate Supply for the hospitality, and Mark Raymond for his documentation.

Huge congratulations goes out to Ben Hatchell taking second place at this years Tampa Am contest. Dude is a straight ripper and maybe now he will stop beating everyone in the local contests around here haha. I didn’t get to see the contest but Sam told me Hatchell was ripping it the whole time.

Peep the video on Transworld

If you ask me Hatchell won that shit, but whatever still killed it haha.

It’s been a while since the old Carolina boys had some footage or even a website. The fabled Post22 has at last returned and with an array of cool shit and some new videos up it should be enough to please anyone that was a fan and even those that were never around for the Post22 days, now if only Jae would bring back Relapse Media haha.

Post 22 <–share the love

Hope everyone had a good holiday and got a bunch of cool shit. I know a lot of you got boards at velocity, sorry that the selection kept getting less and less. For those of you that got some gift money though we did get Enjoi, Darkstar, and Almost boards in. Or if you’re getting ready for the winter weather we have a huge selection of sweatshirts and of course our selection of shoes to keep your feet warm.

Enjoy the rest of your breaks and find time to sesh or stop by in this rather mild weather we are having.

For those of you that haven’t been up to the shop in a minute I suggest you stop in, especially if you have any interest in some of the years biggest skate videos. In the past week INHABITANTS the new Habitat film dropped as well as the highly anticipated Lakai Fully Flared DVD. For those of you that are curious, both films are fire, I suggest either one, and with the Habitat bonus footage both films will leave you entirely satisfied for the price of 30 bucks.

Now for the big news, for the first time ever Velocity is carrying Fallen Shoes and apparel. To be honest I didn’t think it was ever going to show up but I was wrong… finally. We have 6 new shoes to choose from, some of them look fairly legit while others I will leave up to the consumer to decide. We also have some Fallen apparel: wallets, belts, shirts, long-sleeves, sweatshirts, pants, and oddly enough some sweatpants as well. Those sweatpants are signature Jamie Thomas models, Lemaster says they’re straight but I think he’s crazy.

Come down and coop some new product, Christmas is right around the corner so we have been gearing up with a lot of clothes and shoes, hopefully the next batch of product is some more skateboards though.

Here is a short video of Silas Baxter Neal and other es heads in Peru

I got an email earlier this month from an old friend his name is Randy and he is from MD but now resides in NYC. We grew up in the same neighborhood and we all started skateboarding around the same time back in the mid 80’s. Aside from catching up on old times he told me that he is now doing  a skate blog I have been to it many times and he seems to update it daily. So now you guys have another place to go to find footy, photos, and more. I also have another place to poach stories and links for this site. Check it out www.champeen.com

Alright, so basically, Youtube is blowing it right now and refuses to let me upload anything on the velo account, however, I know that Youtube is conducting updates and some of the new features are bulk uploading and a new 1GB limit, that means quality will be much much better, but I don’t think this is available to browser related uploading. And the upload software is only available to windows users so we will have to make the shorts and upload them at the shop on dsl… aka not fun :( .

Velocity Short: Episode 4 from Kevin Green on Vimeo.

For all the hours we spend wasting time bored on the internet we all get lucky once in a while. I got lucky last night and now if you just click this link you can get lucky to. No need to search youtube for Birdhouse “The Beginning” or Nike “Nothing But The Truth”, today is your lucky day.

Sorry about not getting this up sooner, and to be honest I think I just got a little confused on the actual time, the demo was originally going to be on a friday which would mean 9, but now that it’s a sunday I think we can have it at 6 since the park technically closes earlier on sunday at well 6. But there is a contest before the event. Either way word is 6:00 and thats what’s on the flier, if I hear otherwise I will post sorry for any confusion on my part.

Rock

We really didn’t have anything solid down and what happened was Charm got doubled booked so the date of the Gertz Memorial sesh is the 28th of October instead of well… tomorrow. Starts at 6pm, we will have a flier up in a day or so with the correct dates and some information.

Sales for the masses, yuck lemme know if you want changes, this sale is on-going with no end-date set as of yet, so come while it lasts.

This was quite an event and some great skating went down from many different skaters/shops. In the end the 3 guys that grew up skating the streets of SP together came out with the win and $500.
